A video shared on social media by the ‘udderly’ taken aback BBC NI and Radio 5 Live presenter shows him banging on his patio windows in an attempt to scare the cows away after they set off the alarm at his home.

He said at first he though he was being ‘raided by the British army’.

The Belfast-born broadcaster – who has lost a lot of weight in recent months after starting a new health and fitness regime – can then be seen running out of his house, wearing nothing but his black boxer shorts, and shouting at the bold bovines.

The 45-year-old posted: “I thought I was getting raided by the British army.

“I woke up to sound of heavy footsteps and banging on my door.

“Cows broke into my site. Set off alarms, which sent call to security team.

“Total mayhem. Dirty brutes. I’m furious.”

The clip inadvertently allowed people to see the tremendous amount of weight Mr Nolan has lost in recent months.

He has been on a health kick since earlier this year and has said he is on a mission to weigh under 15 stone by July.

“This is a very mooving story,” said one Twitter user of the incident.

Another commented: “I think you’re milking this a little bit.”

“He must have been Friesian running around in his boxers,” suggested another of his many followers on social media.
