Breed stalwart to judge entries

The Holstein section at Antrim Agricultural Society's 110th annual show will be judged by breed stalwart Robbie Mulligan from the Brague Herd in Banbridge.

Ninety-one-year-old Robbie Mulligan is a Holstein Master Breeder, and is well-known throughout Ireland and beyond having showed pedigree cattle and sheep for more than 60 years.

The schedule for Antrim Show boasts nine classes for maiden heifers, in-calf and in-milk heifers and cows, a group of three, and a production class for senior cows.

In addition, there is a novice class for a cow or heifer which has not won a championship in 2016, and two classes for junior handlers aged under 15-years-old, and 16 to 26-years-old.

The interbreed dairy classes will be placed by Scottish herd owner Robert Hunter from Lanarkshire.

The one-day show takes place at Shanes Castle Estate on Saturday 23rd July. Entry forms and schedules are available to download from the society’s website: www.antrimshow.com. The closing date for entries is today (Saturday 9th July).
