On ya eBike as Ride Electric brings new eco technology to NI market

The move, which is being endorsed by Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has seen Ricky appointed as Ride Electric’s new Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland Territory Manager.

The eBikes are currently being hired from Ricky’s base in Portrush by locals and tourists who are seeking to explore our stunning North Antrim coastline using a mode of transport which is sustainable, allows people to go further and reduces their need for public transport.

Ride Electric’s new service follows a change in Northern Ireland Government rules in mid-May, which has now made it easier than ever to ride an electric bicycle.

Ricky Martin said: “After visiting the Ride Electric team in England, I was blown away with their technology and the way they partner with their customers. I wanted to be a part of it and bring this amazing energy back home. The feedback has been amazing so far and I have a series of leasing agreements in the pipeline. People want an alternative and this has never been more obvious since lockdown. There is a huge audience for this. I am forging partnerships with public service providers, our tourism sector as well as the region’s expanding hi-tech multinational business community.

“eBikes have very recently become re-classified as regular bikes thanks to the fantastic work of Nichola Mallon, our Infrastructure Minister. They are a revolution in transport for commuters, holidaymakers and anyone who needs to get from A to B. Because the tech is so new here, people are now realising how much fun eBikes are.

“The new service allows seasonal businesses like hotels and activity providers across Northern Ireland with the chance to lease eBikes for their customers without having a negative impact on cashflow. Businesses can also offer employees the opportunity to travel to and from work, or, to and from meetings safely. This will have huge benefits for anyone who owns a business or anyone who works for a business. As well as leasing, we also sell bikes outright and also have a fantastic cycle to work programme allowing employees to buy a bike.”

Ann McGregor added: “We are pleased that Ride Electric has recognised the enormous potential in the Northern Ireland market. Moving towards more sustainable modes of transport is vitally important if we are to meet Carbon Zero 2050 targets. E-bikes are potentially a very effective way to contribute to this, by reducing congestion on our roads and encouraging people to consider more active travel options.”

The eBikes provided as part of Ride Electric’s new service come equipped with the company’s innovative eRideTrak technology.

A pre-configured GPS Tracker can pinpoint the bikes location and route tracking history and also provides journey statistics for carbon reduction and staff wellbeing.
