The DUP have today issued a statement confirming they are suspending Newry, Mourne and Down Councillor William Walker from the party.

“William Walker has been suspended from membership pending the outcome of the police investigation,” said a spokesman in a statement to the News Letter.

Last week a PSNI spokesman said: “A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, yesterday (Tuesday 22nd February) in the County Down area.
