Woman ‘punched about the head’ and man assaulted with iron bar in aggravated burglary - PSNI appealing for information

A woman was ‘punched about the head’ during an aggravated burglary at her home, it has emerged.

The incident happened yesterday evening in the Radnor Street area of Belfast.

A male occupant of the house was also ‘struck about the head and body’.

“At approximately 11.10pm police received a report that a man and woman had been assaulted in their home,” said a statement from the PSNI.

“The woman had answered a knock at the door when a number of men pushed her back inside her property.

“She was then punched about the head.

“The male occupant was assaulted by approximately 4 to 5 men

“It is believed one of his assailants had a metal type baton. He was struck about the head and body.

“The living-room and kitchen of the property were also ransacked”.

Detective Sergeant Corrigan said: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or who has information that could assist with our enquiries to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1978 23/11/20, or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.
