Northern Ireland's rental prices have risen by more than three times the proportionate UK average, a study showed.

The average was £653 compared to £625 a year earlier, the report from the HomeLet rental index showed, a 4.5% increase.

Rent consumed around a quarter of income.

The level of the charge still lagged far behind some other parts of the UK.

In London, the average last month was £1,615.

The average rent in the UK is now £937, up by 1.3% on the same time last year.

When London is excluded, the average in the UK is £777, up by 1% on last year.
