Cromwell came over after 1641 massacres

Peter McEvoy's letter regarding Oliver Cromwell ('˜Unionists say no, 368 years on', February 15), omits why he came to this country ie the 1641 massacre of Protestants.

This, Mr McEvoy, is where Protestant men, women and children were burnt, piked, hacked to death or drowned (the PIRA’s modern weaponry for disposing of Protestants hadn’t been invented in 1641).

It is a pity when Peter is rewriting history he doesn’t tell the whole story.
