BSB Donington Park: Chrissy Rouse suffers 'significant head injury' after crash in race three

UPDATE: Monday, October 3: Chrissy Rouse underwent an ‘emergency neurosurgical procedure’ on Sunday shortly after admission to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital, Nottingham and remains ‘fully sedated in a serious condition’ in intensive care.

Sunday’s final BSB race at Donington Park was marred by a serious crash involving Newcastle rider Chrissy Rouse.

The 26-year-old crashed on the Crowe Performance BMW at the exit of Goddards on the opening lap and was unavoidably struck by a following rider.

Rouse, who hosts the Chasin’ the Racin’ podcast with fellow racer Dominic Herbertson, sustained a ‘significant head injury’.

An official statement on Sunday evening said Rouse ‘crashed heavily on the opening lap of the race, exiting Goddards Corner’.

It added: “The race was immediately stopped. Chrissy Rouse sustained a significant head injury.

"He was stabilised and put in a medically induced coma at the medical centre by the BSB medical team before being transferred to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital, Nottingham for further investigations and treatment.”
