Glenavon player-boss Gary Hamilton has been given a four-match ban after being sent off for violent conduct.

The suspension was imposed on Wednesday night when the Irish FA rejected Glenavon’s appeal against Hamilton’s red card which he got against Dungannon Swifts.

The Lurgan Blues challenged the 17 September dismissal, claiming referee Mervyn Smyth had made an error.

Hamilton received a two-match ban for the offence, and another two for later comments made to the official.

He was also given an additional two-match ban, which was suspended for six months.
