Shankill takeaway robbed at knifepoint

A man has threatened a member of staff at knife point during an attempted robbery at a Shankill takeaway.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the west Belfast incident, which took place at 11.15pm on Monday night, 20 February.

Inspector Jocelyn Wise said an unknown man armed with a knife, entered the takeaway premises on the Shankill Road and threatened a member of staff.

“The man was wearing a grey jacket and had his face covered with a scarf,” she said. “He was accompanied by another male who waited outside before both fled on foot empty handed from the scene.”

Shortly before 11.45pm two unknown males then entered another takeaway premises on the Shankill Road and threatened staff before making off with a sum of cash.

Police are investigating a possible link between these incidents and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police at Tennent Street on 101 quoting reference 1338 or 1361 of 20/02/2017.
