Harrods contract team to transform Obel appearance

The £2m refurbishment of the Obel property complex is set to continue with the installation of a high performance solar control window film which will significantly enhance the comfort of the building occupants.

Work has already started on this latest upgrade to the building, which will be extended to all 27 floors. The work will dramatically improve the exterior aesthetics of Ireland’s tallest building, whilst ensuring privacy for residents and offering major energy savings all year round.

The film is being installed by Solartek Films Ltd, a Hertfordshire-based specialist which has carried out similar projects on some notable buildings such as Lord’s and Harrods.

The film has been installed on the first three floors, with all floors due to be completed before autumn. The installation is the latest part of the ongoing refurbishment programme which was announced earlier this year by Lisney, the appointed asset manager for Obel.

“The Obel building dominates the Belfast skyline and we are hugely excited about the opportunity to deliver a window film project which will both enhance the exterior and enhance the living experience and comfort for residents,” said Ben Hickling of Solartek.

Ciaran O’Kane, director of property management at Lisney, added: “The rebirth of the Obel is continuing at pace thanks to the internal enhancement works carried out to the one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as the duplex and penthouse suites.”
