Attempted murder arrest after man attacked with knife and hammer

A man has been arrested for attempted murder after a 34-year-old man sustained head and shoulder injuries during an incident in Portadown last night.

A PSNI spokesman said the arrest was made after a 34-year-old man was attacked with a knife and a hammer at Abercorn Park in Portadown around 11.53pm yesterday.

“Officers attended within one minute and found a 34-year-old man who had been attacked with a knife and hammer,” said the spokesman.

“The man sustained injuries to his head and shoulder.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.”
