“Goodbye our sweet little princess. This afternoon your little body had enough and you departed this world. No more pain! You leave us with so many happy memories,” read the message.

Many people from Derry contributed to the Merryn Lacy charity trust which was set-up to make sure that the little girl received the best possible medical treatment.

One Derry man, George Anderson, raised money for Merryn by letting her pick a design that was then in turn tattooed onto his body.

“I was expecting it to be a pink pony or something like that but instead it’s a little green lizard drawn by Merryn. I absolutely love it. It’s tattoo number 35 but it’s easily my most favourite,” said George back in November 2014.
