Teenager charged over hit-and-run death

A 17-year-old man is to appear in court this morning, charged with causing the death of Lesley-Ann Carragher on Saturday afternoon.

The teenager is charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop, failing to remain and failing to report, no driving licence and no insurance.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court.

As is normal procedure the charges are reviewed by the PPS.

Lesley-Ann, 19, was struck as she was out jogging on the Monaghan Road, Armagh, less than a mile from her home around 12.10pm on Saturday.

She was airlifted to Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital but died.
