A flags protest may be held across the UK this Friday, loyalists have said.

Glasgow and Newscastle-upon-Tyne have already been listed as places where protests are due to be held on Friday.

While a province-wide protest is being planned for Friday at 6pm, it is now understood protests could take place in England, Scotland and Wales at the same time as those planned for Northern Ireland.

Another protests is due to be held at 1pm on Saturday at Belfast City Hall on what should be the busiest shopping day of the year in the run-up to Christmas.

A province-wide demonstrations saw 80 protests held on Monday evening. Most passed off peacefully but violence broke out in some areas and police made 15 arrests.

Loyalists also stormed a council meeting in Carrickfergus, shouting verbal abuse at councillors.

Police said that, as of Monday, 59 people have been arrested, including an 11 and 12-year-old boy, and 42 charged following flag protests disorder.

Forty-one police officers have been injured.
