Water cannon display heralds departure of NI squad for Euros

Fire engines shot an arc of water above the Northern Ireland football squad's plane on Monday as it jetted off to the continent for the Euro 2016 competition.

Members of the team and manager Michael O’Neill left from George Best Belfast City Airport to take part in a training camp in Austria in advance of the start of the contest.

In addition to creating an arc with water cannons, at one point prior to take off the cockpit window opened to display a Northern ireland team flag.

The team’s first match will be on Sunday, June 12, against Poland.
