The Parades' Commission said last night it was still getting complaints about a republican parade in Belfast on Sunday during which masked republicans carried life-like weapons.
More than 1,500 republicans marched on Belfast City Hall to highlight their calls for more information about alleged collusion. But as part of the parade up to 20 men carried realistic weapons and IRA insignia.
A Parades' Commission spokesman said
last night that its code of conduct
prohibited any paramilitary trappings during authorised parades.
"We are continuing to get reports in about this parade and when we have compiled them all we will look at them very closely," he said.
Although he could not give exact numbers of complaints he said there had been "a serious reaction".
He also pointed out that any potential prosecutions in such cases would be taken by the PSNI.
"The reports we are getting will weigh heavily on further applications by the organiser, who will have an opportunity to be part of that process," the spokesman said.
A PSNI spokesman said inquiries, "including the process of examining the evidence from the event" is ongoing.
Victims' campaigner Willie Frazer, who was present at the event, said: "Who confirmed the weapons were not genuine?
"They were pointed at me several times when people realised who I was.
"I asked the police what they would do about it and they said they were gathering the information on CCTV. They also invited to take me to speak to the organiser, but that was not my responsibility, it was theirs."
He also criticised both unionist parties, the Alliance Party and the SDLP for failing to speak out in condemnation of the event.
