Belfast Giants show battling spirit to see off Dundee Stars

The Stars took the lead after only 35 seconds with Scott Brannon scoring, before the Giants drew level at 14:34 as Mike Radja netted his 24th goal of the season.

Dundee regained their advantage in the second period through Brannon’s second at 26:29, but Giants responded again through Mike Forney’s short-handed goal (32:38).

Belfast ensured a 3-2 second-period lead when Brandon Benedict scored their second short-handed goal of the night (38:38).

The home side put their foot on the gas in the third period, with goals from Jonathan Boxill (42:39) and Chris Higgins (44:07), while Kris Beech rounded the scoring off (58:06).

It leaves the Giants still fifth in the Elite League table, 11 points behind leaders, the Cardiff Devils.

The Giants play the Nottingham Panthers in Belfast next in a league clash on Friday night.
