Carl Frampton: '˜I am bringing this title home for the fans'

Carl Frampton has vowed to turn up the heat on Leo Santa Cruz in New York in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Frampton and WBA Featherweight king Santa Cruz weighed in on Friday in the sweltering heat of ‘The Big Apple’ before their massive showdown at the Barclays Center.

The Belfast man is challenging three-weight World champion Santa Cruz for the Mexican’s WBA belt, and cheered on by his vocal support yesterday ‘The Jackal’ vowed to get the job done.

“The belt is coming home with me,” he confidently declared.

“I am feeling stronger at this weight and I have made the weight easily for this fight.

“I have been struggling for 18 months to get to the super-bantamweight weight limit.

“I feel great for this fight and I will win this fight and do what I have to do to get my hands on the title.”

Wife Christine and children Carla and Rossa will also be in attendance tonight, and Frampton insists he will not let his large band of travelling support down.

“They have paid good money to get here and I am not going to let them down,” he said.

“I am ready to deliver and this is the freshest and strongest I have felt for a fight in a long time. I just can’t wait to get started.

Santa Cruz says he is not going to let Frampton take his belt or unbeaten record off him.

“We are going to do whatever it takes to get that win and we’re going to sacrifice everything. I will retain my title,” the Mexican insisted.
