Carl Frampton will be my toughest fight to date says Scott Quigg

Both men will put their World titles on the line at the Manchester Arena and Bury fighter Quigg admits he is expecting to have the toughest fight of his career to date.

“I’m expecting a Carl Frampton that will be better than anyone has ever seen before,.

“I’m building him up in my head to be like that as it will be the toughest fight that I have ever faced.

“I will be the toughest opponent he has ever faced as well though, and I can guarantee that I will be the best Scott Quigg possible, and that will be better than anything Carl could ever be.”

And Quigg admitted he is enjoying the craic and banter on social media with Frampton fans in the weeks leading up to the fight.

“You’ve got to embrace it. What’s the point getting angry about it? It is just banter,” he added.

“I think he has lost his marbles a few times but it’s just one of them things, I don’t pay too much attention to what he has been saying.

“Don’t get me wrong, I think some stuff that get said by fans is laughable. These are grown men that are coming out with some of these things.

“That’s what makes the fight so big. There will be people on their dinner hour at work getting their phones out and tweeting me abuse, so it’s nice to know I’m on their mind.

“People say the stick I get must drive me mad, but it really doesn’t.

“I admire his fans for how passionate they are about him, and it’s the same for my fans and their support as well.

“It’s good to have loyal fans whether they are for or against us, but come fight night it won’t make a difference.

“I will get in the ring that night and do the business and then everyone in the arena will be cheering me.”

And there was good news for local fighters James Tennyson and Tommy McCarthy.

Belfast featherweight Tennyson will challenge for the British title before the end of June.

Tennyson is mandatory for Ryan Walsh’s belt and he looks set to challenge for the title.

The board have ordered the bout goes to purse bids and the promoter with the highest offer will win the right to put on the fight.

The purse bids have to be in by March 9 with the contest to take place by the end of June 2016.

And McCarthy has been handed the chance to make a big statement in April.

The British Boxing Board of Control have officially ratified a crusierweight British title eliminator between McCarthy and John Lewis Dickinson.
