James Tennyson ready to deliver against Ryan Walsh in London

The Belfast featherweight has impressed many as he made his way through the ranks and on April 30 at the Copper Box in London he will challenge Ryan Walsh for his British title.

The fight has it’s risks but Tennyson - who has won 16 of his 17 fights, with 13 of those wins coming by knock-out - believes he has the answer to whatever Walsh brings to the ring.

“He is a great fighter, with a good style. He can box and he can fight, so I think our styles will gel and it will be a fantastic fight.

“It will be exciting and it has the potential to be a massive fight for the fans. I am excited about the fight and I believe I will win and become the new British featherweight champion on April 30.

Tennyson has been sparring the likes of Carl Frampton, Josh Warrington and Maxi Hughes in the run-up to the fight and he says it will help him on April 30.

“Training and sparring has been going well and I am determined to put the work in before I face Walsh.

“These next four weeks are going to be very hard, but I know I have to go the extra mile for this fight.

“This is a huge opportunity for me and it is one I have to take. I have just signed a promotional deal with Frank Warren and my future looks bright - so I cannot let Walsh derail me now at this stage of my career,” he added.
