McCarthy should get his chance on Ryan Burnett’s Matchroom show that will take place at the SSE Arena on April 30.

And McCarthy’s manager Pat Magee says big news is on the way.

“There should be an announcement this week about Tommy’s next fight. He is coming along well and we are looking to keep moving him along.

“He had four fights last year and we want to keep him active,” he added.

Burnett will headline the show at the Belfast venue - as long as he defeats Anthony Settoul for the vacant WBC International bantamweight title in Manchester on February 27.

Burnett has already won a WBO European title and a British bantamweight title so far and Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn has big plans for Burnett.
