Eamonn O’Kane is closing in at a shot at the British title after being given the chance of a lifetime against John Ryder on December 8.

The unbeaten middleweights will face each other on the card at the London Olympia, with Islington’s Ryder aiming to move to 13-0 and all-Irish Betfair Prizefighter champ O’Kane eyeing a ninth professional win.

And Dungiven’s O’Kane is looking forward to facing Ryder in the ring.

“This is the kind of fight I have wanted. We have offered to fight Chris Eubank Jnr and Ryder in the past and now Ryder has accepted the offer.

“I am up for the fight and cannot wait to get in there,” added O’Kane.

And promoter Eddie Hearn believes the winner will be in pole position to fight for the British title.

“We are delighted to add Ryder versus O’Kane. It’s unusual for two unbeaten prospects to put it all on the line and I take my hat off to them.

“Ryder against O’Kane is a fantastic battle and one that the fans will love.

“Both men are ready for British title action and I’ll expect the winner to fight for the belt early next year so they’ll be putting it all on the line.” he added.
