There are fears the injury could force the 31-year-old to miss Euro 2016.

West Brom star Brunt suffered the setback on Saturday in the 3-2 home Barclays Premier League victory over Crystal Palace after falling awkwardly.

He missed Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw against league leaders Leicester at the King Power Stadium, where Claudio Ranieri side’s charge to an unlikely title suffered a setback.

Ahead of Tuesday’s game, boss Tony Pulis said of Brunt’s injury: “There are all sorts of different opinions so we will wait until the specialist sees him.

“I have only seen it from a distance so we will wait until the specialist makes an assessment and then we will let people know.”

Meanwhile, Leicester manager Ranieri insisted the Foxes are still alive in the title race following the defeat and refused to be too downbeat.

Tottenham will go top on goal difference if they beat West Ham on Wednesday night but Ranieri said: “There are Arsenal, Tottenham and (Manchester) City in the race to fight for the title and there is little Leicester to fight against them.

“Four points from two difficult matches, it is fantastic. We are alive and our spirit is ready to fight again.

“I am happy, not that we didn’t get the three points because you can’t always get the three points, but our performance was fantastic. I am only concerned at my team and I look at the table at the end of the season to see where we are.”

Danny Drinkwater and Andy King cancelled out Salomon Rondon’s first half opener while Craig Gardner’s free-kick rescued a draw for the Baggies.
