An IFA Disciplinary Committee opted not to punish Carrick despite finding their manager Gary Haveron had not properly served a touchline ban.

The committee said it had exercised its discretion in the matter.

The decision saw Carrick avoid a three-point deduction which would have seen them relegated.

The ruling also confirmed Warrenpoint Town’s relegation from the Premiership.

On Friday the Milltown club said they were challenging the Disciplinary Committee’s decision.

“This is a legal matter and we will not be disclosing the basis of our appeal,” Warrenpoint said in a statement.

“The board have the desire to reach a speedy resolution and the resource available to take this further if required.”
