Terry McMaster knows his side have title in their grasp

A bonus point win at home to Barnhall will clinch the title and automatic promotion but any other result would open the door for Highfield or Sunday’s Well although Derry’s superior points different could come into play.

“I keep saying to the players - individuals win you matches teamwork wins you championships and that is why we are still in a position where are destiny is in our own hands because we did put together a great run in the first two thirds of the season,” said McMaster.

“We have hit a bit of turbulence in the last few weeks but at the same time what we take confidencefrom is we haven’t capitulated in any of those games we’ve lost. They have all been one score games and we have got a defensive bonus point in every one, a try or a penalty here or there would have won them for us.

“If we win the game the calculators will be out, if we win with a bonus point you can put the calculators away.

“The bonus point will clinch it but in the event of us going joint with Highfield or Sunday’s Well then it will come down to points difference and we know that we are 25 points to the good over Highfield and 41 to the good over Sunday’s Well.

“But’s not over til the fat lady sings and you don’t know what Bective will do against Highfield.

“We don’t know what Greystones will do against Sunday’s Well and we don’t know what Barnhall will do against us so it’s going to go to the wire.”

McMaster makes one change with Stephen Corr unavailable Chris Cooper returns to the second row after missing the trip to Donnybrook.
