Jungle veteran Helen Flanagan has warned the latest bunch of contestants to prepare for the toughest mental challenge of their lives.

The former Corrie star has taken part in two series of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of here’ – first time around in 2012 and then in 2023’s spin-off show in South Africa.

After enduring multiple bushtucker trials in her first stint down under, Helen knows only too well how big a challenge the likes of Martin Kemp, Jack Osbourne and Ruby Wax are facing.

“I just don't feel like anything can really prepare you,” she said. “I did the Jungle when I was 22 and I remember I did no prep. It’s one of the biggest shows in the UK, but I didn't really do any prep. I didn't know at all what I was letting myself in for.

“I didn't even think it would be that challenging. I thought I would just blag my way in it. And I was totally and utterly clueless. But I loved the social side of it.

“When I went in 10 years later, I did lots of prep for it. I actually got a phobia expert… he was amazing with all crawlies, snakes, spiders and what have you.

“I worked on my fear of heights. I really prepped for about three

months before I did the jungle, the South Africa one. I think just to really enjoy it; you’ve got to work as a team when you're there as well. You've got to work for a team and work as a team.”

Speaking exclusively to Which Bingo, Helen – best known for playing Rosie Webster on the Street - added: “It's a really special experience, being around the campfire and being all together and it is a real surreal, amazing experience.

“I'm very excited to watch the Jungle this year. I just love it, and it always reminds me of Christmas time and it's just iconic.”

“I'm very excited to watch the South Africa one as well.”
