Young Film Consultants wanted for Cinemagic
The participants will work with the Cinemagic team to help steer the choice of films for the Festival, as they watch and critique a series of short films from around the globe. If you know a budding film critic who would enjoy the opportunity to spend time immersed in movies, this is a fantastic opportunity to see a diverse range of new films, review and debate them, and have fun deciding key content of the largest film festival for young people in the UK and Ireland.
Chris Shaw, Cinemagic Programmer said: “We are looking forward to welcoming young people aged 8-18, to our annual young film consultants panels, which will move online this year due to current social distancing measures in place. The young consultants programme has been one of the longest running initiatives of the Cinemagic Festival since its inception and it is really important to the festival to present a platform for young people’s voices and opinions to be heard.”

Hide AdEach Young Consultant will be emailed a private link and password to a selection of (age specific) short films on Thursday July 23 (9am). Participants will have 24 hours to watch the short films and to write down their comments and opinions. Cinemagic will share film review tips and programming guidance in advance.
On Friday July 24 each of the young consultant groups will then come together online with Cinemagic via Zoom (link to access this will be emailed upon registration) to discuss the films, give their opinions and decide what films should be selected for the in-competition section of the Cinemagic Festival in October. A parent/guardian must be present with each participant aged under 18 during the online sessions. The young people who become film consultants will also contribute ideas for the festival programme and help with the promotion of festival events.
