'A fantastic example': Northern Ireland health giant strikes major multi-year deal with British tech firm to secure sensitive healthcare data
Major deal sees Valarian partner with global diagnostics company Randox, whose products are used in the diagnosis of over 400 million people worldwide each year
Northern Ireland health giant Randox has signed a major multi-year partnership with British technology firm Valarian to strengthen the security and control of sensitive healthcare data.
The agreement will see Randox integrate its data and analytical capabilities into Valarian’s secure digital infrastructure, initially focusing on manufacturing before expanding into healthcare in December.
Valarian’s ACRA technology enables organisations to use and manage sensitive information securely without surrendering ownership or control to external providers. The approach is designed to allow organisations to adopt advanced technologies while retaining control over their data and where it is processed.

By the end of the year, the two companies aim to deliver a comprehensive sovereign healthcare solution, combining Randox’s global diagnostics expertise with Valarian’s technology to support the use of advanced systems while keeping sensitive information under organisational control.
Founded in Northern Ireland, Randox is the UK’s largest diagnostics company and a major player in global healthcare. Its technologies help healthcare providers detect and manage disease, with the company manufacturing more than four billion tests annually and its products used in the diagnosis of more than 400 million people worldwide each year.
Describing Randox as a “fantastic example” of British expertise, Max Buchan, chief executive and founder of Valarian, said: “Britain has some of the best technology and healthcare companies in the world.

"Randox is a fantastic example of that, and I’m proud to be partnering with another UK business to help secure the sensitive data underpinning our healthcare sector.
“This agreement marks a major step forward for Valarian and shows what British companies can achieve together. We have the talent and expertise in this country to deliver world-class technology, and partnerships like this demonstrate why we should be backing British businesses to secure the infrastructure our most important services depend on.”
Joseph Clifford, chief technical officer at Randox, said the security of patient information was a priority for the company: “We’re entrusted with a large amount of patient data, and our patients are of the utmost importance to us. Ensuring their data is secure is first and foremost, and we’ve seen the Valarian product as a key fit for peace of mind in that area.”
The partnership builds on Valarian’s international expansion. The company provides secure digital infrastructure to organisations across government, defence and enterprise, with its ACRA platform enabling the deployment of advanced artificial intelligence while keeping sensitive data within organisations’ own environments.

Its technology is already deployed across four continents, and in July the company raised $50m in a Series A funding round led by NEA to support its continued expansion.
The partnership comes amid growing focus on data protection and efforts to strengthen the UK’s domestic technology capabilities, particularly in sectors handling highly sensitive information. It also highlights collaboration between British businesses seeking to develop secure infrastructure for critical services.
