Ad-Vance Engineering diversifies to supply PPE

This Lisburn based precision engineering company during a crisis has demonstrated another reason why it is the worthy winner of the 2020 Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Innovation Award.

Mayor Councillor Alan Givan recently visited Ad-Vance Engineering in Bog Road to meet with Managing Director Roger Vance to see their production line.

Speaking about the work of this company, he said: “Following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic the Lisburn Castlereagh community has truly stepped up to help others.

“Ad-vance Engineering has helped to address the shortage of PPE equipment by designing and producing NHS approved visors.

“It is great to see a local company continuing to operate during this crisis to provide a new product that is much needed support to our frontline workers.”

Ad-Vance Engineering has also collaborated with Glen Dimplex, Heroshield and Plastics 2000 on this new innovative project.

Commenting on the initiative Managing Director, Roger Vance added: “It is a privilege at this time to be able to provide elements of protection to our healthcare workers who are selflessly helping others during this pandemic.

“We have worked harder, smarter and faster to create this new product at an economical price.

“We have dropped our turnaround time to three to six weeks instead of the typical three to six months from design to marketplace.

“This has helped us meet the demands of our medical and healthcare based customers.

“The provision of facial visors has been possible through accessing various research and development grants and suitable partnership working.

“If we are successful with our Co-Innovate grant then we can increase production to 100,000 units a week which will help healthcare workers both in the UK and the Republic of Ireland in a timely fashion.”
