All in a day's work as police sergeant helps deliver calf

It was a case of all in a day's work for one Co Fermanagh police sergeant after he went to the aid of a '˜damsel in distress' and helped with a special delivery at the weekend.

When a passing patrol spotted a cow giving birth in a field close to the road the sergeant decided it was time to get his hands dirty.

The PSNI in Fermanagh, in a facebook post, said it had certainly proved to be an interesting day for the sergeant.

The post added: “While on patrol in the Florencecourt area he actually got his hands dirty. I mean this literally. There was a cow who was giving birth in a field close to the road.

“The eagle eyed constable with the Sergeant spotted it and pointed it out.

“Our Sergeant, never leaving a female in distress, jumped out to the cow’s aid and helped deliver the calf.

“Think it was a great job done and something the sergeant won’t forget in a hurry!”

The PSNI later posted some photographic evidence of this unusual event.
