Bullocks sell to £1,250 for 600kg at Swatragh Mart

Cattle: Swatragh Livestock Mart had another excellent show of good quality cattle for sale on Monday 3rd April which met with a flying trade and a super ring of buyers with some excellent prices.

More quality stock is required to meet demand.

Bullocks selling to £1,250 for 600kg (£2.08 per kg), £1,135 for 494kg (£2.30 per kg), £820 for 332kg (£2.47 per kg) and £805 for 310kg (2.60 per kg).

Heifers selling to £1,130 for 566kg (£2.00 per kg) and £680 for 296kg (£2.30 per kg).

Fat cows selling from over £1,250 to a top price of £1,320.

Sheep: A smaller entry of approximately 850 quality sheep were presented at our weekly sheep sale at Swatragh on Saturday 1st April, witnessing a strong demand for well fleshed ewes with top prices being paid.

Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £90.00 each to a top rate of £94.50, middleweight lambs sold to £94.00 for 23kg and fat ewes were in high demand with several over £100 and a top price of £112 being paid.

Several lots of fat rams made £114.

Breeders were in high demand with the top price of £200 being paid for doubles and singles to £158.

A small show of spring lambs saw a top price of £104 being paid for 24kg Dorset cross springs and pets to £28.
