Carrickfergus accountancy firm hailed

The mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Cllr Peter Johnston, has congratulated a family-run accountancy practice, after it was shortlisted for a number of prestigious industry awards.

MJ Kane & Co Accountants Ltd, which is based in Carrickfergus, has been nominated in five separate categories within the high-profile Irish Accountancy Awards.

The company, one of only two firms in Northern Ireland to be reach the finals of the awards, was established by Michael J Kane in 2004 and now employs around 35 people.

The practice has been shortlisted for Medium Firm of the Year, Tax Team of the Year, Accountant of the Year for Managing Director Michael Kane, Part-Qualified Accountant of the Year for Tax Director Michael-Joseph Kane Jnr, and Part-Qualified Accountant of the Year for Legal Director Megan McClurkin-Kane.

Mayor Johnston congratulated all those involved with the company on their prestigious achievements.

“This is wonderful news for a local, family-run business which now has an impressive global and national client portfolio and punches above its weight among the biggest accountancy practices throughout Northern Ireland,” he said.

“MJ Kane & Co Accountants Ltd has been a key employer in the Carrickfergus area since being established 16 years ago, and I am delighted that their success is being rightly recognised by an incredible five nominations in the prestigious Irish Accountancy Awards.

The company’s Managing Director, Michael Kane Snr, said he was thrilled to learn of the nominations.
