Plans for the 30th anniversary celebrations for Ryobi, based in Carrickfergus, were delayed due to Covid restrictions. But now the aluminium castings firm, which provides innovative parts for the automotive industry and which services its entire European customer base from Northern Ireland, has marked the milestone of its Carrickfergus base.

The fun day, celebrated with workers and their families, was the chance for the firm to thank them for all their hard work over the decades. Ryobi is also committed to the Carrickfergus community, and it and its workforce have helped fundraise many thousands of pounds over the years. Some of the charities they have supported joined them at the fun day on September 2. Other notable guests included senior management from Japan, while entertainment was provided by local dance and drama groups, and other local firms helped support the day.

In 2023 they picked three charities; the refitted a vehicle for St John’s Ambulance Service, raised money for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice through a golf tournament and support the youth outreach programme Carrick Connect. This charity is backed by Prince William and Princess Catherine.

Saying thank you

Managing director Marco Emig said: “We have been proud to be part of the community in Carrickfergus for 33 years, and to have played our part in supporting our employees, their families and local good causes. We plan to continue to do so for many years to come.

“We are very proud of our record here, and look forward to recruiting and training the next generation of workers to work alongside our already strong team and to help us to develop and manufacture the next generation of products. We’ve recently being awarded with our first product for the EV market, the next milestone for our company, so it is an excellent time to join our organisation.”
