Ask An Architect for a dream workspace

Until September 30 architects throughout Northern Ireland are offering the public and businesses their expertise in return for a charitable donation to Friends of the Cancer Centre, as part of an initiative organised by the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) and the Jill Todd Trust.

The donation of £40 gets an hour-long consultation, in person or online, with a chartered architect from one of the 42 participating practices.

With a recent survey of office-based workers in Belfast showing only 5% have returned to the office full-time, the initiative unsurprisingly has been of particular interest to those working from home. As society adapts to the impacts of Covid-19 it appears that the home office will become a permanent feature of the world of work for many people.

RSUA Director Ciarán Fox said: “Most of us have things about our homes that we would like to change, but rarely have we had so much time to notice them. Ask An Architect offers you expert advice, not just on home offices or extensions, but on any aspect of a building project. It also helps support the fight against cancer right here in Northern Ireland at a time when cancer services are under great strain.

“As the colder weather starts to bite many people will become much more aware of the energy performance of their house. Your Architect can advise you on your options to create a warmer house and simultaneously reduce your home heating bills. They can also guide you through any planning requirements, building control regulations and the likely costs involved.”

You can donate and book online until the end of September at http://www.askanarchitect-ni.com
