Council announce Covid-19 Business Recovery & Revitalisation Grant Scheme

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has announced a £342,000 Covid-19 Business Recovery & Revitalisation Grant Scheme aimed at supporting the revitalisation of towns and villages in the district through support to local businesses.

The capital grant scheme, which is funded by the Department for Communities for urban town centres and by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for smaller rural settlements, allows businesses to apply for a grant of up to 100% of eligible costs from a minimum of £500 up to a maximum of £2500 per property. Collaborative applications for joint business projects are also welcomed. Funding can be used to support modification of buildings internally and externally to facilitate social distancing or to support alternative business models including the introduction of one-way systems, coverings and awnings, signage and shopper collection points.

The Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth, said: “I warmly welcome this significant investment which has been made available to support businesses in their recovery from the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Local businesses play such a key role in the economic life of our district and the funding available through the Covid-19 Business Recovery and Revitalisation Grant Scheme will assist them to help mitigate the costs associated with facilitating social distancing and other measures. I am delighted that the Council, in partnership with the Department for Communities and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, can help sustain our local businesses as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic and into recovery.”
