Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has launched a new innovative regeneration programme entitled ‘Empty to Occupied’

Entitled ‘Empty to Occupied’, the programme is designed to improve long term vacant buildings, helping to transform them into attractive, fit-for-purpose commercial spaces. Property owners and potential new tenants will be able to benefit from the scheme through financial support, mentoring and targeted resources enabling them to bring new life into vacant buildings.

Speaking about the launch of the Empty to Occupied Programme, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Councillor Kevin Savage said: “The reduction of commercial vacancy is a key priority for the council and the quality of properties made available to let across the borough is of great importance to encourage business growth and boost the local economy especially during these recent difficult times.

“It also produces a positive impression of a place, creating a welcoming environment for visitors and instilling civic pride amongst local businesses and residents. I would encourage our existing commercial property owners and also those who are considering our borough as a location to establish a new business venture to avail of this innovative project.”

Developed by the council’s Regeneration Department the programme will be available to eligible property owners of long term vacant properties (3years +) to restore buildings.

Owners of long term vacant properties who wish to be considered for grant assistance can obtain further information on the scheme and register their Expressions of Interest at www.armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk/eto

This programme will be open to Expressions of Interest between 9am on Friday, March 5 and 12noon on Friday, April 9.
