Council launches funding for firms beyond town centres

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is offering businesses across the borough that are located outside traditional town centres the opportunity to apply for up to £1,000 grant funding.

The financial assistance is in response to the challenges brought about by Covid-19 and is funded in conjunction with the Department for Communities (DfC) and the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA).

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, councillor Jim Montgomery said: “Having already supported businesses in Antrim, Ballyclare, Crumlin, Glengormley and Randalstown, I welcome this boost for businesses outside our borough’s town centres. This funding is designed to aid the recovery of businesses and to help address the operational challenges faced in order to serve customers safely under the current guidelines. The pandemic has had a major financial impact on our local businesses and I hope this funding offers a helping hand during this difficult time.”

For information including the guidance notes and criteria or to apply visit www.antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/revitalisefunding. Applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis and the deadline is 4pm on Friday, December 4. The first offers of funding are expected to be released to businesses prior to Christmas.
