FSB Festive Fortnight to think small and think local

The FSB launched their new “Festive Fortnight” campaign in line with the reopening of many retail, hospitality, close-contact businesses across Northern Ireland.

The campaign is simply asking people to consider using small, local businesses where possible for their Christmas shopping and preparation in the last few weeks before Christmas.

Brendan Kearney, Regional Chair of FSB Northern Ireland said: “Small businesses have suffered so much this year and for many, the additional two-week closure period during what should be a ‘golden time’ for businesses before Christmas, has created anxiety and worry over survival. Our Festive Fortnight campaign asks the people of Northern Ireland to make choices that can really boost the chances for many small businesses to recoup their losses. We want you to buy those last-minute gifts from your small, independent retailer, we want you to support your local hospitality outlets but importantly, we want you to do this safely.”

The FSB will be showcasing a number of members over the fortnight in social media posts and have asked MLAs to get out to their local businesses and get behind the message of shop small, shop local and shop safe.

He added: “We hope that 2021 will be a brighter year for our economic, community and family life and we remember all those who have been severely impacted in the last year through Covid-19. There are still a number of businesses unable to open their doors before Christmas and FSB will continue to provide support to our members and continue to be the voice for small businesses going forward.”

The campaign will run until Christmas Eve.
