Local businesses are being encouraged to sign up to the SHINE programme to help their businesses thrive while boosting economic growth in Ards and North Down.

This project is part-funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Investment for Growth & Jobs Northern Ireland (2014-2020) Programme. Targeted at local businesses with less than 50 employees, the programme helped many enterprises throughout its inaugural year in 2019. It provides tailored and specialist business support to micro and small enterprises, and is an excellent tool to help businesses recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Support can be provided through one-to-one mentoring with dedicated advisors and help is provided throughout a range of subject areas including marketing and business development, research and development, legal and compliance, financial management and much more.

This year’s programme was launched in January at Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Town Hall in Bangor, and after a lull due to the pandemic, businesses are being encouraged to apply to be part of the programme by completing an online application form.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Trevor Cummings, said: “SHINE was a huge success in 2019 and we’re hoping to make it even better this year. It supports local businesses through a variety of opportunities and it can help to create new jobs by helping businesses thrive so I would encourage all eligible local businesses to register their interest for the programme.”
