New strategy for car parking in the borough
Ards and North Down Borough Council is developing a new strategy for car parking in the borough - and residents and businesses are being invited to submit their views.

The Council is working to develop a Car Parking Strategy that will support the future prosperity and sustainability of our town and village centres by ensuring ample car parking provision is available, including more provision for electric vehicles.

The Council has already engaged extensively with key statutory partners, including the Department for Infrastructure, the Town Centre Steering Groups, and the Chambers of Trade in each of the borough’s five main towns. Now the wider public, as well as local stakeholders and businesses, are being encouraged to submit their views through an online survey.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Trevor Cummings, said: “We need to ensure that car parking provision in Ards and North Down is accessible, convenient and of a quality standard. Increased provision will encourage more people to visit and will help Ards and North Down flourish. This will ensure that the businesses in our borough will continue to prosper, while residents and visitors will be able to access our local town and villages centres with ease. It’s important that everyone makes their opinions heard at this stage of the consultation process. All suggestions and feedback will be taken into account.”

The survey opens today (Friday, October 9) until December 17 2020 and will be available online at ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk/CarParkingStrategy.
