The programme, which has been designed in response to the circumstances created by Covid-19, is being spearheaded by The Foundry, Pacem Accounting & Tax Advisory and East Belfast Enterprise.

Jonathan McAlpin, CEO of East Belfast Enterprise, explained: “We recognise that there will be a significant number of talented and ambitious people who, through no fault of their own, will find themselves out of work this autumn. Those same people may have an idea or a set of skills which make starting a business a very good option for them. We are offering 10 such people the opportunity to fast track their business so that they can earn a living and, with the right foundations in place, grow their venture and create jobs for others. We are delighted with the Expedite brand and the suite of benefits that we have been able to put in place. To offer this type of support, at this moment in time, is a very apt way of marking 10 years of the CityEast Building.”

The programme, which will be delivered virtually should lockdown restrictions dictate, will run from October to December and will conclude with the successful applicants presenting the story of their business to an audience of influencers. The programme is also being supported by Pacem Accounting & Tax Advisory.

Pacem’s Managing Director Daniel Glover added: “We are delighted to do our bit to help early stage businesses flourish in Belfast. We know first-hand the importance of getting the right foundations in place with our own business journey taking us to a team of 13 people in just over three years. It is a privilege for us to be able to share our experience and financial expertise to new entrepreneurs who are setting out at this difficult time and we are delighted to be working with Jonathan and his team in helping to fast track the 10 successful businesses.”

The Expedite Programme is tailormade for people considering starting a business, intending to trade by early 2021 or indeed, in the early stages of trading. There is a total of ten places on the programme and the deadline for applications is noon on Monday, September 28. The application form and full details are at www.podiem.com/expedite , alternatively call 028 9076 1030 or email [email protected].
