Survey reveals Electric Ireland is ranked highest

Independent consumer body, Which? has released results from its latest customer satisfaction survey, in which 852 Northern Irish energy customers ranked their electricity and gas supplier with Electric Ireland ranking first.

Taking into consideration overall satisfaction of customer service, complaints handling, billing, value for money and beneficial digital tools, the Which? Annual Energy Company Customer Satisfaction Survey aims to provide unbiased and independent advice to consumers across several consumer markets, and once again, Electric Ireland has come out on top for the 3rd year running.

Electric Ireland, operating in the energy market in Northern Ireland since 2001, achieved the highest customer score this year at 66% and are at the top of the list based on Value for Money and Bill Accuracy. In comparison to the additional five Northern Ireland energy providers surveyed, Electric Ireland was the only supplier to get a four-star rating in more than one area with customers claiming to be particularly satisfied with the clarity of their bills, with 84% rating them good or excellent.

The energy supplier, which was ranked top in the 2019 survey and joint top 2018, is part of the ESB Group which has supplied energy to households across the island of Ireland for 90 years.

Clare McAllister, Northern Ireland Residential Manager for Electric Ireland, said: “We are delighted to learn we have come first in the Which? Annual Energy Company Customer Satisfaction Survey again this year as it reinforces the customer-first approach we have taken in the market since joining.

“This approach was maintained when the pandemic struck. With energy supply being crucial for societal and economic stability throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our immediate focus was on reviewing what the needs of our customers would be and where we could provide them with support and added value, it’s with great pride to see that this has not gone unnoticed.”
