Coronavirus: Pub going extra mile for panicked shoppers during COVID-19 pandemic

A Portadown pub has been commended by patrons for selling pasta and toilet rolls from its Off-Licence.

JD Tiplers on the Killicomaine Road is also offering people struggling to shop a chance to place orders with them for meat, vegetables even nappies which they will try to get from their own suppliers.

On Facebook the pub said it is also starting a new takeaway menu from this evening and may start a home delivery service depending on demand, in order to help people who do not wish to spend time in public places at present.

“We are aware of the current stock piling of items from supermarkets which is leaving very little left for those that are not stock piling at present,” it said on Facebook.

It added: “If you are panicking and can’t find what you are looking for in the shops send us a message and we will see what we can do. We understand when you see empty shelves you panic so we are trying to take a bit of that panic away.”
