Dundalk software firm brings engineering centre to Belfast

An Irish softeware devlopment company has established a new engineering centre in Belfast creating 15 jobs.

Dundalk-based firm, Vennetics is a specialist provider of apps and video on demand services for the mobile telecommunications and media industries and has been offered £97,500 in support from Invest Northern Ireland.

Making the announcement during a visit to the company’s new offices in Arthur House, Belfast, Enterprise Minister Jonathan Bell said: “Vennetics is a rapidly expanding company and its decision to establish a new software engineering centre in Northern Ireland, with the support of Invest Northern Ireland is welcome news.

“Offering average salaries of £50,000, the jobs created as a result of this project will generate over £1.2million in salaries over the next two years.

“Video on Demand services are being embraced by people all over the world and Vennetics already boasts partnerships with the leading and most popular Video on Demand providers such as Netflix, iTunes, Google, Amazon , YouTube and the BBC.

“The company has an established competitive position in its target markets and its Belfast office will be a valuable addition to the growing cluster of software development investors choosing to locate in Northern Ireland.”

Vennetics chief executive John Hamill said the move matched the firm’s growth ambitions.

“Our new Belfast office fits with our strategic aim of widening our customer base and introducing new products to help service the needs of our customers,” he said.

“ We were really impressed with the skills base in Northern Ireland and have managed to recruit some of the new roles quite quickly.

“In the future, we intend to diversify our product offering by developing a Cloud Hosted Video On Demand (VOD) portal in order to generate new sales.

“This expansion into Northern Ireland has already opened new opportunities for us and is providing an impressive platform for longer term growth in the UK and Europe.”
