East Antrim Hounds mark special anniversay

The East Antrim Hounds were formed in 1895 and they celebrated 120 years of hunting at their Annual Hunt Ball at the Dunadry Hotel and Country Club, Templepatrick.

After the drinks reception, Huntsman Robbie Hodge blew the horn inviting the master, visiting masters, members and guests into the ballroom.

Lyle Andrew on behalf of the hunt thanked all the farmers and landowners over whose land they had hunted over the years and then made a toast to all the masters, office bearers and members past and present and absent friends that have supported the East Antrim Hounds over the last 120 years.

He then invited the Master Robert McKnight along with his wife Margaret and past masters Roy Logan and Robert Crawford with their wives Kay and Edith to cut the cake. Kerrie Knipe riding master presented flowers to the masters’ wives and to Jayne Kennedy, treasurer.

After a beautiful meal served by the staff at Dunadry it was time for the band This Way Up to get the dancing started and soon had the dance floor filled to capacity.

During the interval George Logan conducted the auction selling all lots, thanks to all those who generously donated all the auction items and to those who bid on the evening.

The dancing then continued into the small hours with huntsman Robbie Hodge blowing the horn for home at the end of a most enjoyable and successful night celebrating 120 years.
