This year is no exception and the event scheduled for Monday, February 27, will include entries from all of the group members and a number of guest consignees.

“It has been a big year for us,” explains David Smyth, secretary of the group. “Our members dominated the summer show circuit, winning both the Hereford Bull of the Year and the Hereford Female of the Year awards. This quality and the strength of our breeding programs will be reflected in the sale entry with all of our members participating to present a top class offering of 21 good young sires.

The sale is compliant with the requirements of an official Hereford Society sale with all entries undergoing veterinary inspection and weighing pre-sale. A herd health declaration for each exhibitor is printed in the catalogue with respect to TB, BVD, IBR and Johnes - the entries will have been tested free of BVD and have been vaccinated - they will also have undergone DNA tests to confirm parentage and freedom from genetic defects.

The catalogue comprises 21 bulls and can be viewed on the Hereford Cattle Society’s website - www.herefordcattle.org under online sales catalogues.

Copies are available from David Smyth on 07808 078117 or from Dungannon Farmers Mart.

The Elite Breeders are again indebted to R J Lyness Feeds, A1 Transport and the Bank of Ireland for their support for the event.
