'Every animal has a purpose and is valued': Ballycastle farm launches exclusive meat boxes from its own premium herds
Award-winning Broughgammon is offering limited-edition beef, pork and rose veal boxes alongside a range of home-grown regenerative vegetables
Organic farm Broughgammon in Ballycastle is marketing a series of exclusive meat boxes from their own premium cattle.
Also being marketed is a range of home-grown vegetables.
“Because we have our own on-farm butchery, we can also accommodate specific requests where possible — whether customers would like particular cuts, larger roasting joints or something a little different. We’ll then butcher everything fresh and dispatch orders the following week,” says Charlie Cole, who runs the multi-award winning Broughgammon enterprise with wife Becky and other family members.

Rated as “forward thinking farmers”, Broughgammon rears cattle to the highest welfare and environmental standards. It has produced three limited edition boxes from its own herds – a Heritage Belted Galloway Beef Box of grass-fed Native Belted Galloway beef, “pasture-fed and full of incredible flavour,” adds Charlie.
A unique Pork Box is only available until the end of October.
The final is an Ethical Rose Veal Box. Charlie explains: “Our rose veal is part of our mission to make sure every animal has a purpose and is

valued. It’s tender, beautifully delicate meat.
“Our approach to meat is rooted in nature friendly farming, high welfare, whole-animal use and working directly with our customers! “ he says.
The farm sells its products through its on-lne shop and at markets here and in Dublin.
The family enterprise, which has won a series of awards from UK Great Taste and the Countryside Alliance, the latter for protecting the environment, also specialises in “regenerative managed vegetables”

Charlie continues: “In our regenerative veg fields, we have got absolutely everything growing right now. Red Russian kale, cavolo nero, kohlrabi, baby carrots, salads, and cornflowers dotted in amongst it all.
“Red Russian kale is one of our favourites, although I feel it’s so underrated! It’s a bit like a hybrid between spinach and kale, more mild in flavour,” adds Charlie.
