Flanagan to host Brexit discussion in Fermanagh

A public meeting has been organised in Enniskillen to discuss the impact of an EU exit on Fermanagh farmers. The meeting will take place in the Enniskillen Hotel on Wednesday 23rd March 2016 at 7.30pm.

Sinn Féin MLA Phil Flanagan has organised the meeting and it will be addressed by representatives from farming organisations, who will set out the key points of the debate.

Speaking about the meeting, Mr Flanagan said: “The decision on whether or not we remain a part of the European Union is one of the biggest issues facing farmers, and many people, myself included, see such a move as a significant threat on the agri-food sector.

“I have organised this meeting to give local farmers access to all of the information and to debate the key points of the argument with expert representatives from the agri-food sector.

“It is important that everyone affected by the outcome of this referendum has a chance to make a fully informed decision.

“In my opinion, the agri-food sector is one that will be greatly affected by any decision to leave the European Union and this meeting will be useful for those wishing to engage in the debate or to learn more about the debate.”
