County Fermanagh butcher Gary Irvine is aiming to give his customers a real festive treat after buying the Housewife's Choice Champion heifer at Omagh Auction Mart Christmas fatstock show and sale.

The Blonde-bred heifer was picked out from a strong line up by the judge, Mr Sam Carmichael.

After spirited bidding at the ringside Gary Irvine finished as the highest bidder with a bid of £2,100.

The championship-winning prime beef is now being matured at the shop in readiness for customers’ Christmas tables

Gary said: “We are firm believers in supporting local producers and local markets wherever possible, which ensures full traceability and hands-on control.”
